Warning!  What you are about to read is quite radical!

I want you to think of the one person in your life who appears to be causing you unhappiness.  Whoever came to your mind first will do.  Now I want you to do the only thing that will help your unhappiness, send that person love!

It is counterintuitive.  It feels crazy, insane, like it’s not possible.  But it works!

Watch the video, or keep reading below…

I recorded this video a couple weeks ago (before my trip to London and Liverpool), and I just had a chance to write about it now!  (More about my trip to follow!)

Now is the perfect time to share this concept though, because the holidays are upon us!  And the holidays are a wonderful (and sometimes quite stressful) time.  We get together with friends and family and oftentimes are triggered by others during this season.

There is a way to keep your peace though!  Send love to whoever is bothering you!

When you wake up in the morning and send love to the one person who is bothering you, it softens the energy between the two of you.  Believe me, we all have that one person.  We think we can send everyone in our lives but this one person.  That is the person you should send love to the most.

This is NOT to say you let that person walk all over you.  This is not to say you choose to be around someone who is abusive.  Quite the opposite.  When you send that person love, then you are able to own your no.  You are able to walk away if you need to.  You will stay true to yourself in your actions.  You can stand up for yourself in an assertive instead of an aggressive way.

You will be proud of how you acted afterwards.  You will sleep with a quiet heart and sound mind.

Martin Luther King Jr. spoke about how love has a creative power.  It is true.  When you send love to a difficult situation, you can think more creatively about how to handle it.

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”  Martin Luther King Jr.

Sending love is a spiritual truth.  It is not always rational.  It does not have to be.  It just works.

I often tell the story about a time in my life when I was having a very hard time with someone.  I practiced what I preached and sent this person love each and everyday, especially the days that I would see her.  How she was acting towards me felt unforgivable.  It felt so personal.  I could not stand to be around her.

But something magical happened once I started sending her love.  I started to see things from her perspective.  She started sending me emails thanking me and telling me her side of things.

Very soon after I started this practice, circumstances changed, and we were not in each other’s daily lives anymore.  It was a quick and unexpected change.  I believe it was because we both learned our lessons from the relationship.  We forgave each other, and did not need the lesson anymore.

If someone is on your nerves, send them love.  It is the best way to heal the relationship. Once the relationship is healed, you will either move closer or move on.

This quote is under the lesson from A Course in Miracles, “Forgiveness offers everything I want.”  We don’t have to understand it.  We just have to know it works.

I want you to extend this love toward yourself as well this holiday season.  Know that the love in the world was meant for you.  When you connect with it, you give yourself the best present in the world, peace of mind.

Peace and Love,

Elizabeth
